80mbps faster actually.
A true video ipod w/ FW800 would be very sweet though, if they can fit in the components.

Exactly.
To avoid the 'implied' multiplication, it should be shown as below.
The answer is then obviously "2".
2 to the power of (9+3) is not the same as 2 x (9+3).

I believe that the only reason why Apple has not made a full transition to Core 2 is the lack of sufficient supply from Intel. As soon as they have the inventory they will stop ordering Core and move fully to Core 2.
In terms of MB and MBP, the performance difference will be related to graphics - integrated -v- a graphics board. The MBP will also have the larger display size, lighted keyboard, etc. to place them "above" the MB.
The issue for Apple is not the difference between the MB & MBP, but the competitive position of the two in the general notebook market. Moving fully to Core 2 keeps both notebooks at the top of their market segments in terms of processors - not a bad idea since the costs of the new Core 2s is very similar to the costs they paid for Cores.

Apple is a business whose mission is to sell phones, computers, and software. You as a customer buy those products, but they are designed by Apple. If you have a problem with Apple establishing a standard across its products to ensure quality, then you can just stop using them. That easy, just stop buying Apple products and stop using them, period.
If Apple weren't so controlling Toyota wouldn't need to have this app in the jailbreaking community.
Sure, some of apple's rules are good - i.e., no private API calls, but others, utter garbage - its SJ's ego shinning through.

Android is winning 'cause it's cheaper than apple, which is from the recession, people want cheap when they both do the same with a few minor exceptions.

Very interesting. This is very plausible because of Lenovo has the C20 workstation (which I picked out for myself at my work):
http://news.ecoustics.com/bbs/messages/10381/637217.html
The ThinkStation is 3U rackmountable, with the CD tray vertical for the thinner chassis. Fits full-length, full-height PCIe (video) cards. They called it the "world's smallest dual CPU workstation" so Apple could definitely match it for the Mac Pro.
I'd really like to get a Mac Pro, so this would be perfect. :) The size is nice though honestly I don't really see much need for rackmounting--do companies use these in a server room with a KVM or thin client or something?http://www.lenovo.com/shop/americas/content/img_lib/products/splitter/workstations/features/c20_worlds-smallest.jpg

As other posters have said...they practically announced it during the last financial anaylyst conference call.
There will be a phone released. No question about that.
The questions are:
- when?
- features?
- will apple do it themselves or seek joint partners?

Ugh, I don't want to wait till fall for IPhone 5. On VERIZON! holy crap I'm excited
How about an Iphone 4? it did seem a little suspicious releasing a vz iphone 4 in feb when a new phone coming in june. It would not surprise me if they did release in june. I myself bought an Iphone 4 as i could not wait, either way people are going to be unhappy... those who bought an iphone or those who choose to wait.
So I guess 2011
So much for the year of the Ipad 2, Maybe the year of Ipads

recent AppleInsider story[/url] had indicated that Intel may have plans to move up Merom's formal launch to next Monday, July 23rd, to coincide with the Core 2 Duo Desktop variant ("Conroe") launch.
Monday is the 24th. This is the third post on this. How long does it take for an admin to correct a simple mistake?

i am happy that iPods "aren't expected" at WWDC, it doesn't seem the right place. We need emphasis on computers and software for them, not redesigned (or just updated) music players. xServe, Mac Pros, and hopefully redesigned exteriors of MacBook Pros, as well as lots of Leopard showing is what i hope for :)

No, it's "TWO 2.66GHz CPUs are about $800 more expensive than TWO 2.0GHz.....".
That's what I'm saying, $400x2=$800-$300=$500 profit for Apple, That's wonderful for Apple.

G5 PowerBooks on Tuesday!
 :D
I think MacBooks will get Merom in their second revision. Either way, I'm liking Intel's relentless surge.

So what. Really, this doesn't show anything whatsoever.
News flash. 90-98% of people are so dumb it is unfathomable.
Most of them don't even know it.
Cattle lower their heads and chew.
I'm not saying using Android vs. iOS makes you dumb. Dumb people use both. But percentages of people making uninformed buying decisions when they are just as likely to watch Jersey Shore or father their first cousin's child are only just percentages at the end of the day. It's like bait car.

I think Steve is outright lying about this.. I don't think most people aren't fond of this, including myself..
My opinion is that he's probably not lying. He's parsing his words in his usual terse style. Steve is not denying the existence of a record of each user's location. He's denying the accusation that Apple uses this information to track individual users. He's implying that it's being used for some other purpose.

And if you stop subscribing?...What happens to your music files stored in the cloud?
Who cares, you can download it any time to any computer. Talking as a new user of this service, who has used it. You buy music for less than iTunes. I got a free upgrade to 20 GB. Then when can down load everything in your cloud which is DRM free to any computer you're logged in to. I could not care less about the player. The way less restrictive cloud storage is a huge bonus. Yes I know MP3 is not as good as AAC if you're an audiophile and if you are then you're playing lossless made from CD or Vinyl. Amazon is a super simple and easy to use UI with far less restrictions than apple. Not knocking apple I have an iPhone4, iPad2 and 2010 MBP.

I'm excepting the new OS X preview, new Mac Pros and maybe updated MacBook Pros.
That's it...after all, it is just a Developers Conference, not a Mac World Expo...I think the focus will stay on the software and the tools pros are most likely to use.

This seems like an inevitable move in the convergence of iOS devices and Mac computers. They will eventually be the same thing. Powerful, robust, thin, power efficient, easy to use touch interface. Lion is moving in the direction of the iPad and iOS in general. The iPad has been gaining more Mac-like features and robust applications. I think the time tables are probably off. I don't see this happening for 4 to 5 years at the earliest. But with billions upon billions in cash reserves, Apple can pretty much do whatever they want!
If this convergence were to happen i think it'd be more likely for iOS to take on intel processors, not the other way around.
